Glass elevator engineering

For the flagship store of Gucci in New York’s Meatpacking District, Mr. Gretsuk was commissioned to create more than an elevator interior—but a jewel box experience aligned with the brand’s global standard of design excellence.

Working directly with Gucci’s in-house design team, Nick Gretsuk engineered a highly specialized mirrored environment centered around one defining objective: achieving a flawless “infinity reflection” effect—a visual experience of endless depth within a confined architectural space.

This required precision at a level rarely executed in elevator design:

  • Custom-fabricated beveled mirror segments, aligned to read as a singular, uninterrupted reflective surface

  • Exacting control of mirror-to-mirror geometry, ensuring perfect continuity of reflection without distortion

  • Advanced engineering and installation tolerances, where even the smallest deviation would compromise the intended visual effect

Nick led every phase—from concept engineering and material fabrication to final field installation—with hands-on effort, ensuring absolute perfection in execution.

The result is a fully immersive, infinite reflection environment—a signature design moment that transforms the elevator into a luxury architectural feature, fully aligned with Gucci’s identity and the prestige of its flagship location.
